L

Linens (blended cotton/linen, métis)

Métis, from the Latin mixus (blended) refers to a fabric with a cotton warp and a linen weft. It is traditionally used for table linen, napkins, tea towels and tablecloths. True métis must have at least 40% linen.  Its properties are useful because linen does not leave fluff and cotton is absorbent.  Today, blended / métis fabric also refers to fabric with mixed fibres : wool and cotton or linen and silk.
